As a Second Charge Mortgage Underwriter, you’ll manage applications from initial review through to lending decision, balancing strong commercial judgement with fair customer outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite second charge mortgage applications in line with lending policy and regulatory requirements
- Assess customer circumstances and supporting evidence to make fair, accurate lending decisions
- Verify application documentation and request additional information where required
- Maintain precise and up-to-date customer records throughout the underwriting process
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, brokers and internal stakeholders
- Manage a busy pipeline while maintaining excellent quality and service standards
- Consistently achieve agreed KPIs, productivity and quality targets
- At least 12 months’ experience assessing, processing or underwriting loan applications
- Experience within mortgages, secured lending, consumer finance or a related financial-services environment
- A proven ability to manage high application volumes while maintaining quality and accuracy
- Strong attention to detail and excellent data-entry skills
- The confidence to assess complex customer circumstances and identify appropriate next steps
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- A positive, solutions-led approach and the ability to perform in a KPI-driven environment
